DESCRIPTION: Reception and Art Show honoring nonagenarian David Norton who retired to Palm Springs in 1989 after an illustrious career as a set designer, opera singer, and an art teacher in Los Angeles. The exhibit will open with an April 20 reception from 6-8pm and will continue April 21 and 22 from 10am to 4pm. The exhibit will span 70 years of Norton’s contributions to the arts. Many of his paintings depict California’s mountains, desert and sea. His Southwest scenes include a series of the New Mexico pueblos and the Kachinas of Arizona. His one man shows have been in Santa Fe, Sedona, Pasadena, Santa Monica and Oxnard. An award winning set designer, Norton created models for each of his sets and these will be on display, as well as watercolors from his 1957 European Grand Tour from Morocco through Scandinavia.

DESCRIPTION: Plein air painters can join artist Elaine Mathews the first Thursday and third Saturday of the month for a relaxing day of painting outdoors. Bring your own art supplies and lunch.
